Performance Benchmark between SOAP and REST/BULK APIs?

Hi,

Has anybody done any type of benchmarking for queries and/or upserts between the SOAP and REST or BULK APIs?  We're looking for confirmation of everybody's expectations that things *should* be faster with the BULK APIs.
